Yes today is the first day of Spring! I am sitting at my desk at Prosperity Mansion in lovely Frederick Maryland. I look to my left and what do I see? Is it daffodils, birds singing, warm sun light lawns? Nope , its 4 inches of snow and still falling hard.
I have been waiting for Spring since Christmas. It's here, March 20, 2018. I was white knuckling it to get to Spring. Spring is my time. We are an outdoor / garden wedding ceremony and receptions venue. So today was our mile stone. It was the light at the end of this past cold, windy and oh so difficult winter.
Did I mention how much I hate giving tours for a garden reception space in the winter. Talk about putting your best foot forward,,,,,,,,not! At this ceremony site there are not beautiful flowers blooming, not warm breezes on your face. No sun making you smile. Its cold , no its freezing. BUT today its actually snowing ! Yes, I am calling it a blizzard. I might be exaggerating but not by much.
I do have tours scheduled for this weekend. Oh well we will see. I say things like “use your imagination and look at our video”. I hope it will be enough.
Yesterday we had a landscape designer here and it was actually pretty nice weather. We sat in the gardens and pastures and discussed plans for more gardens this Spring. LOL , well here we are the very next day and its snowing like crazy.
But we did come up with some enchanting and beautiful ideas. I love words like whimsical and enchanting. Doesn't that just make you happy? Well that's what we will be adding to our mansion gardens. More whimsy and flights of fancy.
Put on your boots an snow shoes so that you can tour the outdoor ceremony site and the garden reception area here at Prosperity Mansion. I can tell you that Frederick and Carroll Counties get more snow then most places. So we will never have you wedding reception here in the winter. We promise you that ! But come along. We can make snow brides and have fun.
