To be completely honest, I haven't historically offered specific military or first responder discounts. My reasoning was simple: I work hard to keep my prices far lower than comparable wedding venues in Frederick, MD and surrounding counties to be budget-friendly for everyone.
My goal when I opened this business was to create a whimsical, garden wedding venue where couples could come and have one of the most amazing days of their lives and not break the bank or start their lives together in debt because of their wedding. After comparing the prices here at Prosperity Mansion and Farm to wedding venues in Carroll Co MD, Baltimore, Montgomery Co, MD and Anne Arundel Co, MD etc. I knew we were honoring that commitment and will continue to do so.
A True Story- About a Military Officer
But last weekend, a conversation changed my perspective. Here is a true story of an amazing story of a military serviceman.
I was touring the property with a lovely middle-aged couple. This was going to be the second marriage for both and they met on a Christian dating app. The tour was actually magical. The three of us developed a rare and uncanny rapport where we had so much in common and our views were so very similar. Later when the groom and I were alone he asked if I offered military discounts. I explained that I didn’t because I was committed to keeping my prices low for all couples. And there just wasn’t a lot of wiggle room with us already being most times 30% less than other wedding venues of our stature.
I asked if he had served in the military and he said yes in the Army for 20 years of which 17 of those years was active duty. I inquired what about the other 3 years. He then revealed that his last tour of duty was in Afghanistan. While there he had been thrown out of a helicopter breaking his back. They didn’t know if he would live and if he did if he would ever walk again. He spent the following 3 years in hospitals and rehab before finally receiving a full medical discharge.
Now he is obviously walking since he was here on the tour but he is always dealing with various levels of daily pain. By the end of this conversation, we were both in tears. In that moment, the business model of my pricing didn't matter anymore. I was standing in front of someone who had given everything for our safety and to serve his country.
I realized then that while my prices are already low, these heroes deserve a thank you that can help financially. They deserve our profound gratitude. I’m proud to say I’ve updated my heart—and my policy. His story has helped me grow as a business owner and reminded me that if we all give to each other when and where we can, the world would be a better place.
Since I was already giving everyone a great price, I felt that I was fulfilling my obligation to help couples have a great wedding that didn’t involve going into debt for years to come. I took myself out of the role of a business owner and become a friend to this man. So, I offered him hundreds of dollars off of his wedding day package as well as a free rehearsal where that too was valued at an additional significant cost .

1) Who is eligible for the First Responder discount? We are proud to extend this special offer to active and retired professionals, including:
Military- All branches of our arm forces are welcome at Prosperity Mansion and Farm and we will be honored to serve “you” at that time.
Fire & Rescue: Both Professional and Volunteer Firefighters services are honored at our garden wedding venue.
EMS: Paramedics and EMTs, whether you are a full time professional or a volunteer we want to recognize what you do and celebrate it.
Emergency Dispatch: The "thin gold line" that coordinates our local safety.
2) What documentation is required? To keep things simple, we typically just ask to see a valid service ID or proof of service prior to booking your wedding at Prosperity Mansion and Farm
3) Does the discount apply to all wedding dates? This discount applies to all available wedding dates. Full day, DREAM weddings as well as Micro / Small weddings are only available May through the first weekend of November each wedding season. However, Courthouse wedding, Intimate weddings, Elopements and simple Vow renewals are available year-round.
4) Must you live in or be from Frederick MD to qualify since that is where the wedding venue is located? No, we open our hearts and doors to everyone. Our motto is: “No matter who you are or where you are in life’s journey, all are welcome that come with a kind heart”.
5) Does the Military and First Responders discounts apply everyone even if you are retired? Yes, we are honored to have you and help celebrate such an important new chapter in your life. Whether you are in or have been in the military, law enforcement, firefighting, or emergency medical services, we want to help you celebrate your love story surrounded by the historic charm and rolling hills of our Maryland wedding venue. It’s our way of saying thank you for everything you do.
6) Can we tell others about this discount- Yes, please tell other heroes. If you have friends or family members who are or have been in the military or first responders, tag them or ask them to share this message!
7) Do you offer tours- Absolutely, our tours are free with no obligation. A tour allows you to see everything first hand and actually feel the vibe of the entire property as well as us. We want you to make sure that we are a good fit for your wedding day vision.
8) Where exactually is Keymar MD located - Keymar, MD is located in Frederick County Maryland and is one block away from the border of Carroll County Maryland. We are approximately 1 hour from Baltimore, MD, Montgomery Co, MD and Washington D.C. We are truly n the countryside where two cars are a traffic jam. Prosperity Mansion and Farm is surrounded by farm land, and rolling meadows which creates an atmosphere of being in your own little world.
9) Can we have celebrations at Prosperity Mansion and Farm in addition to or aside from weddings? Our main focus is and has always been weddings. We do on occasion host a bridal shower, baby shower or a birthday celebration but couples getting married will always receive top priority.
What is the difference in the three levels of wedding packages at Prosperity Mansion and Farm?
A) Full day, DREAM weddings- are from 8-10-12 hours long depending on which package you select and can host guests from 20 to 200. We also offer all three weekend days to help with rehearsal, setting up and decorating on Friday, the actual wedding day and reception on Saturday and allowing you to return on Sunday IF you don’t want to break down and clean up on Saturday night. Available May through the first weekend of November.
B) Micro / Small Weddings- for 5-6 hours and up to 50 guests. Small but intimate and economical. Available May through the first weekend of November.
C) Courthouse weddings, Intimate weddings, Elopements and Vow Renewals- from 1-3 hours and as intimate as just the two of you or up to 30 of your closest friends and family. Super affordable and budget friendly. Marry here and party later! Available all year round.
Price- we are typically 30-40% less expensive than most wedding venues of the same stature. This price difference is not because we offer less; it’s because we are committed to making beautiful weddings accessible to couples from all walks of life.
